Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a selection of some of the many questions I am asked when someone is considering hypnotherapy.

  • Will I reveal any personal secrets whilst in Hypnosis?

No. Using hypnotherapy, I can guide you to a state of deep relaxation. You are in full control of all you say and do.

  • Can you make me do anything I don't want to do?

Most definitely not! Hypnotherapy can enable you to achieve things that you want to achieve but it cannot make you do anything that you would not want to do

  • What does it mean to be hypnotised?

Being hypnotised is very simple; you will be guided to a state of deep relaxation and put into a 'trance'. We go into trance several times a day but we know it as daydreaming. How many times have you driven a car and not remembered the journey, or been involved in a book and not heard people speaking to you? That's because you have been in a trance (daydreaming) state. It just means you are very relaxed.

  • Can anyone be hypnotised?

The majority of people can benefit from Hypnotherapy to some extent as most people can go into at least a light trance, which is sufficient for most hypnotherapeutic goals.

  • Will I lose consciousness whilst in Hypnosis?

No, during Hypnotherapy the client is always fully aware and in control of everything that happens during the session.

  • Are there any dangers?

None. You will simply be relaxed and in a safe, secure environment.

  • Will I remember what happened during Hypnosis?

In the same way that the memory normally works, you will remember most things but not all. For example, when you listen to the News you don't remember everything that has been said, but you may recall the majority of it. The same applies with Hypnosis.

  • What can hypnosis be used to treat.

Hypnosis can be used to help treat a wide range of issues such as:
    • Fears and phobias
    • Physical conditions such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, skin conditions and migraines
    • Anxiety and stress
    • Panic attacks
    • Tinnitus
    • Fertility
    • Insomnia
    • Lack of confidence

It can also be used as a tool to:
    • Manage pain
    • Improve performance at work or in sport
    • Improve birth outcomes

  • How will I feel?

The most common denominator between people who have had Hypnotherapy, is that they feel wonderfully relaxed and can't wait to do it again!
